National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

September is National Suicide Prevention Month. The issue of suicide can be linked to issues of mental health that can be exasperated by excessive alcohol use and drug use (including prescription drug misuse). This month we want to bring awareness to suicide prevention and #BeThe1To take the actions that can save a life. This can look like paying attention to recognize the signs of disconnect and depression; being present and available for someone, so they don’t feel alone; reducing access to lethal means (e.g., locking away medications or alcohol, etc.); or just getting someone to the resources and help they may need.
